Practical Faith: Q&A With Brother Abraham

Practical Faith: Q&A With Brother Abraham

Speaker: Pastor Lee Cummings and Brother Abraham
Date: June 15, 2025

Welcome back, Brother Abraham! In this Q&A with Pastor Lee Cummings, he shares about the challenges and breakthroughs of spreading the Gospel in one of the most unreached parts of the world: India.

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on this sermon:

Day 1: Answering God's Call

Reading: Isaiah 6:1–8

Devotional: Just as Abraham responded to God's call to ministry despite his initial reluctance, we too are called to serve God in ways that may seem daunting. Isaiah's vision reminds us that when we encounter God's holiness, our own inadequacies become apparent. Yet, like Abraham, who left his comfortable job to follow God's leading, we are not defined by our limitations but by God's empowering presence. Reflect on areas in your life where God might be calling you to step out in faith. How can you respond with Isaiah's willingness: "Here am I. Send me!"?

Day 2: Faith in the Face of Adversity

Reading: Acts 16:16–34

Devotional: Abraham's journey of faith led him to face persecution, imprisonment, and attempts on his life. Yet, he persevered, trusting in God's faithfulness. Paul and Silas demonstrate similar faith in the face of adversity, singing hymns while imprisoned. Their unwavering trust led to a powerful testimony and the jailer's salvation. Consider the challenges you face in your own faith journey. How can you maintain hope and joy in difficult circumstances, trusting that God can use even your struggles for His glory and the advancement of His kingdom?

Day 3: The Power of God's Love in Action

Reading: Matthew 25:31–46

Devotional: Abraham's ministry expanded beyond preaching to include caring for orphans, providing education, and meeting tangible needs. This reflects Jesus' teaching that true faith is demonstrated through loving action. As you read about the sheep and the goats, consider how you can put God's love into practice in your community. Are there "least of these" that God is calling you to serve? How can your acts of compassion become a powerful testimony of God's love to those who may never have heard the Gospel?

Day 4: Hope for the Unreached

Reading: Romans 10:11–15

Devotional: Abraham's heart for the unreached in North India reflects God's desire for all people to hear the Good News. Paul emphasizes the importance of sending messengers to proclaim the Gospel to those who have never heard. While we may not all be called to foreign missions, we all have a role in reaching the unreached—whether through prayer, giving, or going. Spend time praying for unreached people groups today. Ask God to show you how you can participate in His mission to bring hope to those who have never heard the name of Jesus.

Day 5: God's Presence in Suffering

Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:7–18

Devotional: The persecution faced by Christians in India reminds us that following Christ often involves suffering. Yet, Paul encourages us to view our trials through an eternal perspective. Our momentary afflictions are producing an eternal weight of glory. Abraham's willingness to lay down his life for the Gospel in India exemplifies this eternal mindset. Reflect on how your current struggles might be shaping your character and strengthening your faith. How can you cultivate an eternal perspective that sees beyond present difficulties to the hope of glory that awaits?
